In this Unit, the students will learn the exceptions to the closed syllable type. Closed syllable exceptions have a similar pattern as the closed syllables, but have a long vowel sound instead of the expected short vowel sound.
The students learn that these exceptions are glued together.
When students tap these sounds out, they keep three fingers together to represent the number of sounds working together.
The students will practice the vowel teams "ai,ay,ey,ee,ea,oi,oy" using the vowel teams poster.
