In this Unit, the students will review the "ff,ll,ss" bonus letters rule. If a one syllable word has one vowel that is immediately followed by an "f,l or s" then you double that consonant. The extra letter does not make a sound, but is considered a bonus letter.
In Unit 2, the teacher will reteach the welded or "glued" sounds: all,am,an,ang,ing,ong,ung,ank, ink,onk,unk. The students learn that these letters keep their own sounds, but are glued together. When students tap these sounds out, they keep two or three fingers together to represent the number of sounds working together. |
